Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Plastic Surgery)
With blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid plastic surgery, it is possible to restore the skin around the eyes to their youthful state. A procedure called transconjunctival blepharoplasty is used for younger people who have bags under their eyes but do not have significant skin wrinkles. This removes the bags without any scarring.
Blepharoplasty can help patients achieve a younger look by tightening and firming up their skin and removing the bags under their eyes. The “tired look” will be eliminated and they will be able to look well rested and younger. Patients as young as 30 will find that the skin around their eyes has started showing signs of aging so they will turn to blepharoplasty to remove the excess skin and lower eyelid puffiness. The loose skin can be removed with the eyelid surgery and the patient can achieve a younger look. The surgery starts with an incision being made along the upper and lower eyelids. The surgeon then removes extra skin and fat as well as muscle. The procedure is done on an outpatient basis and takes from one to three hours. It is done under anesthesia and provides patients with results that will last a long time. The temporary side effects can include discomfort, tight skin, dry eyes, swelling, sensitivity to light and bruising. Most patients will be able to return to their normal routine within two weeks.
Since blepharoplasty is done with small incisions, the patients at our Orlando practice are able to enjoy this procedure with minimal scars. They are able to get natural-looking eyelids with the customized procedure that Dr. Gonzalez will tailor to their specific needs to help them achieve their personal appearance goals.
