Breast Reduction
Women with larger than normal breasts often experience neck and back pain, bra strap marks on their shoulders and discomfort. Oversized breasts make women feel self-conscious and embarrassed and they feel physically uncomfortable. A process that can help fix this problem is breast reduction surgery, which will make the breasts smaller and more proportionate with the body. There are various techniques, including vertical reduction, inferior pedicle reduction and free-nipple reduction.
The procedure begins with an incision being made around each areola and under the natural curves of the breast. The surgeon then removes extra fat, tissue and skin, and tightens the remainder of the breast. It is possible to make unevenly sized breasts more symmetrical as well. The procedure can take as long as three hours and is done under anesthesia on an outpatient basis. There is temporary swelling, bruising and some pain, but the side effects go away once the breasts heal.
